Southmoore High School
Southmoore High School is an American four-year public high school located in the southern part of Moore, Oklahoma. Southmoore High School opened in the 2008-2009 academic year. The school is headed by one head principal, and 4 class principals. The current principals are Roy Smith, Head Principal; Julia Black, Senior Principal; Mary Porter, Junior Principal; Mark Sikes, Sophomore Principal; and Jun Kim, Freshman Principal. Southmoore High is a 6A division High School.
Auditorium Fire
In February, 2009 there was a fire of the school's recently finished auditorium. There was water damage from the sprinkler system and smoke damage. There have been rumors that it was started by one of the students at Southmoore High School. However, the cause of the fire was due to an electrical fault with the lighting equipment nearby the balcony seating. Originally, the Rogers & Hammerstein musical, OKLAHOMA!, was to be performed that month, but then was shifted to April later that year due to cleanup and restoration of the school's auditorium.
Drumline Fridays
Every Friday during football season, the school's drumline performs on the school's main staircase. During the performance, Cheer and Pom dance on the lower level below the stairs, in front of the Sabercat football team and the student body.
Guest appearances
During the 2008-2009 school year, three of the Oklahoma City Thunder cheerleaders and their mascot, Rumble the Bison, have appeared during the school's Spring Sports Assembly.
